Dear Friends,
Thanks to grassroots YIMBYs like you, we're starting the year off strong: on Thursday, AB 1406 (Ward) passed out of the State Assembly. Every call and email to Assemblymembers' offices this week sent a message that YIMBYs will continue to fight for the change we need.
There's still more work to be done to pass AB 1406 in the State Senate. Nobody wants these "victory alerts" to stop – and every victory we achieve in Sacramento starts with a victory at the ballot box for a pro-housing legislator. We need your help to make sure we keep sending housing champions to the State Capitol, and keep up the pro-housing momentum here in 2026.
That's why we're asking you to step up by donating to the California YIMBY Victory Fund.

AB 1406 will give more Californians a pathway to affordable homeownership by raising current limits on homebuyer deposits in new housing developments. The bill helps builders lower their construction and financing costs by reducing risk to lenders and investors, ultimately leading to lower-cost homes for Californians.
The bill increases outdated limits on homebuyer deposits on new condos – which reduces project risk, and gives builders access to lower-cost construction funding. These savings can be passed on to homebuyers.
AB 1406 now heads to the State Senate. We'll keep you up to date on actions you can take to support it on the Senate side. One thing you can do right now: give to the California YIMBY Victory Fund.
It's our political action committee (often called a "PAC") dedicated to supporting and electing leaders who are committed to solving California’s housing crisis through bold, evidence-based policy.
We need your help to re-elect our current pro-housing champions, while also electing the next cohort of legislators who will continue to advance the YIMBY agenda. By donating to the California YIMBY Victory Fund, you can support the leaders we need to end the housing shortage.
Will you give to the California YIMBY Victory Fund and help elect housing champions in 2026?
Gratefully,
Emily
