The COVID-19 pandemic is still an emergency—a growing crisis for Black and Brown, low-income, and immigrant communities across the country. As federal unemployment benefits are set to expire at the end of the week, millions of families across the country will lose one of the only things keeping them afloat. Meanwhile, millions more people, who were excluded from receiving federal relief like this from the start, are still struggling to survive the pandemic’s devastating health and economic consequences.

As the federal government continues to fail our communities and put already vulnerable Black and Brown lives at risk, organizations across the CPD network are showing up for each other through mutual aid. Thanks to your generous show of solidarity, we’ve already provided over $350,000 in grants for direct relief and cash assistance to families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But it’s not enough.
