I have to ask for your financial support today, and I want to be very clear about why.

Our online fundraising messages — emails like this one, the occasional text you receive from me — are our most reliable means of raising the resources we need to continue moving North Carolina forward. That’s particularly true when there is not an election right around the corner.

In fact, it’s much harder to earn financial support at the moment. Donations to our team have been slipping. And I understand why: folks might not think that their contribution means very much right now.

But I need you to know that there is still so much we need your help to accomplish.

Over the next nine months as we prepare for the midterms, I’m leading the charge for North Carolina Democrats. I’ll be campaigning hard for leaders like Justice Anita Earls — one of only two Democrats on the NC Supreme Court. Like our former governor, Roy Cooper, who has the best chance of any Democrat anywhere at flipping a U.S. Senate seat from red to blue. And like legislative candidates across the state whose victories will be essential to breaking the GOP’s stranglehold on the General Assembly.

John, I can’t do any of that unless our team has the financial resources we’re counting on to make it possible.
