There is a reason Republicans are already announcing their candidacy to run against me this November.
It’s because I’m doing the job you sent me to Washington to do: I’m demanding accountability from a government that has operated in the shadows for far too long.
Last year, I introduced the WATCH ICEAct after an oversight visit revealed that nearly 80% of people in a local detention facility had no criminal convictions.
Now, following the tragedies in Minneapolis, I’m calling for an end to the culture of secrecy and intimidation at the highest levels of our government. I’m also calling for the impeachment of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
I am proud of the work we’ve done to protect our federal workers and fight for higher teacher pay. But that progress is at risk if we don’t have the resources to defend this seat against the wave of outside spending coming our way.
I’m not interested in "sky-is-falling" rhetoric—I’m interested in results. But the result of falling short of this goal is a weaker campaign and a louder voice for those who want to silence our oversight work.
