It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Turning Point USA’s co-founder, my mentor, and my biggest advocate, Bill Montgomery.

Eight years ago, I sat with Bill at a Starbucks in Lemont, Illinois and shared with him my idea to galvanize a generation of young conservatives. He immediately responded with “How can I help? I believe in YOU!”

With his wisdom and guidance, TURNING POINT USA WAS BORN. Together, we built the largest conservative student organization in the country from nothing.


Since day one, Bill Montgomery believed in me. But most importantly, he believed in Turning Point USA.

Bill drove me around the country when I was too young to rent a car. Bill helped me when I was too young to check-in at hotels. His shining commitment to Turning Point USA and tenacious love for this great nation will serve as a timeless example to every Patriot.



There were moments when I wanted to give up. It’s so easy to try and portray that you always had it within yourself to keep going. I didn’t, I needed Bill, the ultimate optimist to keep pushing me. The world would be a much darker place without his life of selfless service to America.

Bill had a bigger impact on America than most lifelong politicians. He helped launch the most impactful and critical organization of our time. His legacy touched MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of people.



I am so incredibly distraught by this news today, but I rest easy knowing his greatest accomplishment, TPUSA, is stronger than ever carrying the torch of freedom.

One of his favorite quotes he repeated was, “Turning Point USA has given me a renewed hope in America. For generations to come I can see how one idea has helped turn a country back to greatness.”

There would be no Turning Point USA without Bill Montgomery. Bill, you will be missed.
