I have about 15 minutes of free time in my schedule today. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of time, but with a schedule like mine, I can assure you it’s a gift.
And while I know folks like me probably send a lot of emails your way, I want to take a few of these minutes to tell you about my commitment to this movement.
There’s no doubt that these are perilous, unprecedented times. Trump’s second term in the White House is proving to be the existential threat to our nation that I and many others knew it would be.
He has slashed budgets for critical agencies, kicked millions of working class Americans off their healthcare and food assistance, and doubled premiums for ACA insurance plans — all while lining the pockets of his billionaire buddies.
He has defied international law, bombed seven sovereign nations without Congress’s approval, illegally invaded Venezuela and carried out regime change on behalf of his Big Oil donors, threatened our allies in Greenland, and alienated our allies Europe and around the world with his hostile posturing and reckless tariffs.
He has weaponized the Department of Justice, turning them into his personal lawyers and launching sham investigations into his perceived enemies, from members of Congress, to judges, to Federal Reserve board members, to top universities, to state and local Democratic officials and the ActBlue fundraising platform.
He has overseen a nationwide reign of terror, using ICE as a personal, secret police force to punish states and cities that didn’t vote for him. We have seen people beaten, families separated, US citizens detained, held indefinitely, and even deported, peaceful protesters labeled “domestic terrorists”, and innocent folks shot dead in the streets.
The Project 2025 agenda is playing out before our eyes. I am committed to fighting back with everything I’ve got.
I’m committed to blocking Trump’s harmful agenda in the Senate and using every tool I have to shine a light on this administration’s corruption.
I am standing shoulder to shoulder with local and national organizers who are leading the fight to defend our democracy through protest, direct action, and organizing of all kinds.
