This week has proven something powerful: people power is greater than the people in power.

We saw it when thousands of people showed up to demand accountability for the violence DHS continues to unleash on our communities, which led to the forced removal of Greg Bovino and the suspension of the two federal agents involved in the murder of Alex Pretti.

These weren’t acts of goodwill from Trump’s administration. It was a retreat caused by organizers, observers, and everyday people refusing to be silent.

We did this together. But let’s be clear about what’s still happening.

ICE is still operating like a paramilitary force. Families are still being terrorized. People are still being illegally detained and deported. All while Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, and Trump lie to try and cover it up. Real change requires sustained pressure.

I introduced the Melt ICE Act to strip funding from detention and surveillance and redirect those resources into health care, housing, and real community safety. I’m demanding Kristi Noem’s removal. And I will keep showing up — in Congress and in our communities — to confront this administration’s lawlessness head-on.

This fight only moves as fast as our movement does. Organizing takes resources. Holding power accountable takes people — and support.
