John,
Tomorrow is the special election for Senate District 9, and it’s our first real chance this year to show what people-powered organizing can do in Texas.
This runoff isn’t just about one race. It’s about whether we start 2026 on offense with Democrats organizing everywhere, competing everywhere, and winning where pundits say we can’t.
Right now, Democrats have real opportunities to flip seats and build momentum across the state. But those wins don’t come from wishful thinking. They come from organizers on the ground, volunteers registering people, voters getting the information they need—and the resources to fuel that work. If we hesitate now, these opportunities pass us by.
Take SD9. Tomorrow, Democrat Taylor Rehmet heads into a competitive runoff in a district Donald Trump carried by more than 17 points last year. Taylor is a veteran, a union leader, and a lifelong member of this community. And last month, he finished first with 48% of the vote, beating out two Republicans.
That’s what happens when organizing meets the moment.
Districts that were written off across Texas are now within reach because voters are ready for leaders who actually reflect their values — and because grassroots teams are showing up and doing the hard work. That’s exactly what Powered by People is built for.
We’re running a statewide organizing program to turn close races into real wins — supporting candidates, mobilizing voters, registering Texans, and strengthening Democratic infrastructure everywhere. But to push through the finish line tomorrow and keep this momentum going, we need our grassroots community fully behind us.
Thank you,
