A lot of people showed up to help elect Marie because she represented a progressive change of pace from the status quo.

That’s what we have the chance to do this November. But Marie is so, so much more than just a better alternative in this election -- she’s a fighter. And when she’s elected to represent IL-03, she’ll go to bat for every single person in the district, because that’s who she is. When she talks about expanding health care or investing in job training or raising the minimum wage, those issues matter to Marie because she knows people who need that change.

This election is like none we’ve ever faced -- electing a new member of Congress without being able to knock on doors and introduce voters to Marie is tough. We’re making investments in getting Marie’s story and message in front of the voters of the 3rd District -- make a donation before our end-of-month fundraising deadline and let’s do everything we can to elect Marie.

The reality is most voters across the 3rd District don’t know a lot about who Marie is. We want people to know that she grew up on Chicago’s Southwest side in a union family and became among the first in her family to graduate from college. She worked her way up to becoming partner in one of the largest ad agencies in the U.S. and later left to start her own business.

We want to tell the story about how she reacted when one of her kids was getting severely bullied in school. Marie took it upon herself to start a national non-profit program called “Team Up To Stop Bullying” to address the problem. She worked with state and federal legislators to make anti-bullying policies a priority and even wrote a book designed to provide solutions for both parents and schools.

We want voters to know the Marie Newman who has served as a state and national advocate for health care rights, income equality, LGBTQ+ rights, and common-sense gun safety. Above all else, we want voters to know that Marie is someone who uses her voice to help lift up those who are often left out in our society -- that’s why she’s running.

We have three months to go to win this election -- and the job of making sure voters know who Marie is and know what’s at stake in this election are made tougher by a crisis that isn’t going away. We need all the help we can get.
