JOHN,

This month, we won an important fight.

The Trump administration quietly dropped its appeal in a lawsuit that blocked its attempt to strip schools with diversity and equity programs of billions in education funding.

A federal judge had already ruled the policy was unlawful — violating basic procedure and threatening educators’ free speech. Rather than defend it, the administration walked away.

That decision matters. It removes an immediate threat and reinforces important legal limits.

But it’s also important to be clear-eyed: this is a win…for now.

The broader effort to roll back diversity and equity in education hasn’t stopped. It’s continuing through quieter channels, with fewer safeguards and less public attention.

As we close out the month, I’m asking you to help sustain that work. If you’re able, please consider contributing today to protect public education and uphold democratic values at the local level.

Thank you for standing with us,
