Dear John,
Last week, ICE took the life of Alex Pretti, veteran and ICU nurse, murdered for assisting a woman pushed to the ground by federal agents.
No one should fear for their life simply because of the color of their skin or what language they speak. And no one should die for the beliefs that move their heart and conscience into action.
Congress must hold the line to prevent escalating violations of human rights and fund care over cruelty.
Thanks to your advocacy, Congress has finally exercised its authority and blocked $10 billion in additional funding for ICE.
More funding for ICE means that families will live in fear of deportation, afraid to leave home for work, school, or medical care.
While the Trump administration focuses on funding terror, working people shoulder the cost of nearly $1 trillion in Medicaid cuts, billions stripped from SNAP and education, and rising tariffs and living costs that keep outpacing wages.
This is a choice about priorities and the kind of country we want to be. We need real leaders in congress, and we need people like you to join us and keep up the fight.
Send a letter to your representative and let them know you don’t want your taxdollars spent on a rogue agency. We’re uniting across race, place and party because what was meant to divide and distract us has inspired community care and courage.
In solidarity,
We Are California
