...and watch justice bloom

Assalamu’alaykum John,

This beautiful hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) speaks volumes on the necessity of doing what we can, no matter how late, even if we won’t necessarily see the fruits of our labor ourselves. We hope for a good outcome, and ultimately, God’s reward.

Litigation is a similar process. Sometimes it may take years for a case to be resolved, and sometimes, the results are not as we expect. But along the way, we learn and we grow. We may reap the rewards of our efforts at a later time or in an unexpected way, but the intention behind our work is not in vain. Nothing is lost when you do your best and trust in God.

As the recently departed Congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis once said, "Change often takes time. It rarely happens all at once. In the movement, we didn’t know how history would play itself out."

Our beneficiaries know this, too: "I never knew what was around the corner: it could have been everything, or it could have been nothing, but I was ready to take the first step," client Akili Ujima recently told us, "and I wouldn’t have gotten this far without CLCMA."

We believe that as long as we hold on to hope, we can make a difference and move our country forward. It may not be easy, quick, or clear to us now, but one day, by God’s Will, our efforts towards freedom, liberty, peace, and justice will bloom.

As the best ten days of the year come to a close, it is not too late to make your best gift towards the work of justice. Support us today!

In faith and for justice,
