Hi there,

This week, we made history.

On Wednesday, EnviroVoters hosted California’s first-ever climate-focused governor's forum to let voters hear directly from the candidates we'll be voting for this year.

This year's election for California's governor is the most impactful race across the country. California isn't just a leader on the national stage as a defender against Trump rollbacks: as the fourth largest economy in the world, our actions have international impacts, too.

This forum proved that our candidates understand the critical role California has in global progress and the urgency of the fight for climate justice in the face of environmental impacts and corporate greed.

Highlights from the conversation included:
Xavier Becerra, Civil Rights Attorney: “Many states follow California's tailpipe emissions rules because it's best for their families. We know our future is in clean energy, and in making our environment as clean as possible."
Katie Porter, Consumer Protection Attorney: "The question about affordability and the environment really shows that what people want is both of those things, and that’s good news, because clean energy is less expensive."
Tom Steyer, Business Leader and Climate Advocate: “If we want to lead, we need to charge polluters for their pollution and we need to have an ability to reduce climate pollution from the air. The technology is here. That's how we lead the world."
Eric Swalwell, US Representative: “We can protect public lands and expand them as the federal government tries to contract that, but also meet our housing, transportation, and clean energy needs."

The forum also spotlighted brand-new statewide polling released by the EnviroVoters Education Fund and David Binder Research. The message from voters is clear: California’s next governor must deliver affordable clean energy, reliable water, fair insurance, polluter accountability, and public land protection in the face of federal rollbacks.

We’re proud to bring these critical conversations directly to voters through this forum and give you a chance to hear for yourself who stands out to you as our state's next climate leader.

Watch the full conversation now and share it with friends, family, and neighbors who want to hear from their next governor!
