We don't need poorly trained, unaccountable armed men in our streets. We don't want our elected officials blatantly lying to us.

But that's what we've been dealing with. ICE is out of control, with their officers violating our constitutional rights and Kristi Noem lying to our faces and assassinating the character of Americans gunned down in public view.

We've had enough, and that's why I'm fighting back.

This week, I joined two colleagues with a plan of action to rein in ICE and DHS.

Here’s how we’re going to do it:

• I'm supporting the effort to impeach Secretary Kristi Noem for leading cover-ups of their recklessness.
• I'm cosponsoring the No Masks for ICE Act, which keeps agents transparent and accountable.
• I'm cosponsoring the Bivens Act to end ICE agents' immunity from being sued for blatant violations.
• And I'm demanding a rescinding of ICE funding from the Big Ugly Bill.

As Los Angeles’ representative, I am not going to be a passive actor while the administration and its allies try to weaken our democracy and use its full force on our citizens.
