You’ve probably heard a lot about data centers recently. With AI becoming more mainstream, these data centers are using more energy than ever.

But we want to give you some real facts about the situation:

While your household energy costs rose by over 10% from 2022 to 2024, these energy-sucking data centers have seen their rates increase by only 3%. That’s just not fair!

Our SEEC Members are doing something about it. Reps. Mike Levin and Kathy Castor have introduced the “SHIELD Act” to protect Americans from paying for the power needs of these big data centers. With the rising electricity and affordability crisis we’re in, our members are focused on protecting Americans from seeing massive spikes to their bills.
