The brutal violence at the hands of ICE has shaken Minneapolis – and the nation – to its core.
Trump tried to change the narrative, deploying his border czar to the area “to report directly to me” and claiming ICE will “leave at some point”. But the reality is NOTHING has changed for those on the ground living in the midst of ICE’s terror. So it’s more important than ever to double down on our fight to get ICE out of all our communities, NOW, before more violence hits.
Right now, our team – led by our organizer Dieu Do on the ground – has been on the frontlines of rapid response to support families and get ICE out. She helped organize the march on Friday that got 200,000 into the streets in -20 degree weather and a vigil following Pretti’s murder on Saturday. Folks on the ground like Dieu are seeing the horror unfold every day — and they need our support.

Alex Pretti should be alive. So should Renee Good, Keith Porter and countless others who have died at the hands of ICE in recent months. Yet ICE has turned Minneapolis into a war zone, and if we don’t do something, countless others could die.
Our team has been launching community patrols, providing aid to vulnerable neighbors who are sheltering in, protecting students from being snatched by ICE at bus pick up and drop offs, and pushing local leaders for an eviction moratorium while ICE is in town terrorizing neighbors in their homes. And they’re putting themselves on the line to do it: our organizer was tear gassed on the street while trying to help a pregnant woman get care during a chaotic ICE raid.
Despite these efforts to terrorize us into silence, it’s only making us stronger. THIS is what people-powered resistance looks like.
But we urgently need resources to keep going. ICE is not backing down. Our communities are exhausted, scared, and angry – yet hope grows every day that our mass effort will end this occupation.
