Hundreds of federal workers across the country held a vigil yesterday for murdered Veteran Affairs ICU nurse and AFGE union member Alex Pretti–even as they face a potential partial government shutdown.

Minnesotans remain steadfast in their opposition to federal occupation and violence. Nationwide solidarity actions for corporate accountability and mutual aid for their most impacted neighbors continue, even as ICE patrols the streets. 

Working people are showing up in fierce resistance to the Trump regime. Risking their comfort, safety, and livelihoods. We need our congresspeople to join the frontlines with us.

The demands to cut off additional funding to DHS and ICE are working. Your phone calls and letters to Senators are encouraging Democrats (and even some Republicans) to hold the line. But we can’t stop now.

The Senate has until 11:59pm on Friday, January 30 to avoid a partial government shutdown and ensure funding for DHS is removed from the current funding bill. They have the power to do this. Remind them. 

Below you’ll find a variety of actions you can take to stand in solidarity with Minnesota and all communities suffering from ICE’s campaign of terror: 

1. Send a letter to your Senators ASAP. Tell them to STEP UP: vote NO on ICE funding. 

2. Host or attend a nationwide action this Saturday, January 31 in solidarity with Minnesotans who are demanding Target take a stand and join the public calls for #ICEOutMN. 

3. Learn from organizers of Minnesota’s statewide strike, hear from international experts, and more THIS SUNDAY 2/1 @ 6pm ET. RSVP to How We Build a General Strike. 

4. Jobs with Justice is moving funds directly to union members and immigrant workers who are organizing in federally occupied cities like Minnesota, and other organized workers dealing with manufactured crises like government shutdowns. Learn more and contribute to the Worker Solidarity Fund.
