I secured $1.35 million in federal Community Project Funding to improve pedestrian and traffic safety in New Brunswick and Highland Park! These upgraded sidewalks, crossings, ramps, and traffic calming measures will help reduce crashes and make our roadways safer for everyone.
In New Brunswick, $500,000 will go to upgrade the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Van Dyke Avenue, one of the city’s most dangerous intersections. In Highland Park, $850,000 will go to pedestrian and roadway safety improvements along North 8th Avenue and Magnolia and Benner Streets.
You can more about these improvements here.
Hands off the Gateway Tunnel.
The Gateway Tunnel project is a historic investment in our region’s infrastructure. The project currently employs more than 1,000 union workers, and over the life of the project it will create 100,000+ new jobs and generate $20 billion in economic activity.
That’s why Democrats and Republicans in Congress already appropriated money for this critical infrastructure improvement, but for the sake of some petty culture war Trump illegally froze it. Now the deadline to unfreeze these federal funds before construction stops is just days away. That’s why, this week, I helped lead New Jersey and New York colleagues in both the House and Senate to demand Trump restore this vital funding.
We represent America’s most economically important region, and our constituents know their livelihoods, in addition to this country’s prosperity, depend on this project being completed.
