Multiple Republican politicians are calling for impartial investigations into the shooting of Alex Pretti by a Customs and Border Patrol agent in Minneapolis ([link removed]) . Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) called for a “thorough and impartial” probe of the shooting, noting that “any administration official who rushes to judgment and tries to shut down an investigation before it begins are doing an incredible disservice to the nation.”
Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) echoed similar concerns, adding on X that the shooting “should raise serious questions within the [Trump] administration about the adequacy of immigration-enforcement training.” Senators Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Pete Ricketts (R-NE) also called for investigations of the incident.

Frustration with Kristi Noem’s DHS has also impacted state-level Minnesota politics, as Republican gubernatorial ([link removed]) [link removed] Chris Madel announced he was stepping away from the race due to his party’s immigration enforcement action. ([link removed]) Madel noted, “I cannot support the national Republicans' stated retribution on the citizens of our state, nor can I count myself a member of a party that would do so.”
Republican politicians are beginning to realize that the Trump administration’s draconian immigration enforcement policies are angering voters around the country. Mandel also stated that “national Republicans have made it impossible for a Republican to win a statewide election in Minnesota.”
Trump’s DHS is becoming impossible to defend, and now is the time to speak up and let our representatives know how we feel. Join Immigrants’ List today!
