Note From the Chair
Hey folks! Rita Hart here.
If you hadn’t already seen the news, Trump came to Iowa [[link removed]] on Tuesday to give a speech in Clive. As expected, it was full of fiction and nonsense, painting his own leadership as a new golden age for America and its people.
Iowans know – and are experiencing – the truth. Groceries are more expensive by the day. The average American is paying an additional $310 for groceries [[link removed]] in 2025 compared to the year before. Millions will lose their healthcare [[link removed]] because of his cuts to Medicaid and the ACA. As for our economy, the golden age has left our state last in the nation [[link removed]] for economic growth and 44th in the country [[link removed]] for hourly wages.
This isn’t what strong leadership looks like. Leaders address issues head-on. They don’t pretend everything is fine all of the time. For heaven’s sake, Trump even called the word ‘affordability’ fake [[link removed]] .
Republicans are leaving working folks without. It is getting harder and harder to make ends meet, our rural economy is struggling due to uncertainty, and Republicans are not doing anything to lower costs. Iowans deserve better. It’s time to elect leaders who’ll work to fix our state, not play pretend while everything falls apart. To learn more about how you can get involved, visit iowademocrats.org [[link removed]] .
Sincerely,
Rita Hart
