Dear John,
Right now, a woman is clocking out at the end of her shift as a grocery store clerk — an essential, front-line role in the midst of the ongoing coronavirus crisis. People in her community rely on her to ensure they have access to food and necessities.
But at the end of her eight-hour shift, her take-home pay for the day is as low as $58. No benefits. No guarantee of paid leave if she or someone she loves gets sick. No additional pay for working through the pandemic. Still not enough to support a family.
Women are disproportionately on the front lines of defense against COVID-19 and its devastating consequences — and every day they are being left behind as a result of decades of policy that undervalues women’s work.
The National Women's Law Center is fighting around the clock to help protect public health and help working families survive the COVID-19 pandemic. Make a donation today to support our critical work fighting for women in low-paid jobs on the front lines of this crisis and a generous NWLC supporter will MATCH your gift to make twice the impact until midnight on Sunday, April 26.

Every day of this public health crisis, women, and especially women of color, are putting their health on the line to provide essential and life-saving services and to put food on the table for their families. They’re also over-represented in industries that are laying off workers by the millions — like restaurants, retail, and hotels.
The National Women’s Law Center is fighting for immediate relief for these workers and families by advocating for significant, urgent investments in child care, unemployment protections, paid sick days and paid family and medical leave, and more.
But our work cannot end with the COVID-19 crisis. We’re continuing to work day and night to force changes to our laws and economy that will help make sure these workers are supported in the weeks and months and years to come. That’s what we’re fighting for — will you join us?
Make an urgent donation to support our work during this unpredictable and critical time. In recognition of NWLC’s crucial work to support women on the front lines, an NWLC supporter has offered to match all gifts up to $5,000 — but only until midnight on Sunday. [[link removed]]
Thank you for all that you do — I hope you and your loved ones are safe during this extraordinarily trying time.
