Friend — House Republicans have voted 214-208 to lift a 20-year ban on mining near Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

This means that one of the most-visited and pristine protected areas in the country — beloved by kayakers, anglers, and campers — could have toxic sulfide waste going into the wilderness area.

But this resolution hasn’t taken effect — yet. And that means the environmental movement has a window right now to make sure this dangerous decision never reaches Donald Trump’s desk. We need your help.

What’s alarming isn’t just what Congress did — it’s how they did it.

For the first time, the House used the Congressional Review Act (CRA) to target public lands withdrawals.

This vote was a test: how far can the CRA be stretched to weaken environmental safeguards… and what could come next?

What happened in the House is a warning. We must speak up now and stop the CRA from being used as a loophole to open doors to toxic polluters — in the Boundary Waters or anywhere else. Please, renew your membership now to join thousands of other LCV members in speaking up to keep public lands in public hands. $5 is all it takes.

Thank you for renewing your membership at this critical moment for our public lands, Friend.
