Friend --

Like many of you, I’ve watched what’s been happening in Minnesota over the last few weeks with both horror at this administration’s lawless violence -- including the senseless murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti -- and pride over the scores of ordinary people bravely looking out for their neighbors.

The test of any nation is how we treat the most vulnerable among us. And across the country, Americans have braved frigid temperatures to protest or to protect the people -- including young children -- who are being terrorized by this administration. They want to mold America to their cruelty, but we’re showing them that we’re stronger than that.

I thought Bill put it eloquently this week: “Over the course of a lifetime, we face only a few moments where the decisions we make and the actions we take will shape our history for years to come. This is one of them. If we give our freedoms away after 250 years, we might never get them back.”

I hope you’ll take a moment to recommit this week to the values that we share: a belief in fairness, in being inclusive, in democracy. And I’d ask that you also check out StandWithMinnesota.com to see how you can get involved and support folks whose lives have been disrupted by this administration:
