It’s been a devastating week for our country and I know it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uneasy about the direction we’re headed right now.

The events that have unfolded in Minnesota are sickening, and increased ICE activity in other states, including right here in Maine, is terrorizing our communities.

No one should live in fear just for going to work, buying groceries, or sending their kids to school. We deserve better. But John, this is not the moment to give in to fear or frustration, it’s the moment to stand up and fight back.

What we can’t do is sit on the sidelines. That’s exactly what Donald Trump and his allies are counting on. We need to stand together.

This next election will be about whether working families can put food on the table, everyone can get the health care they need, and whether people can feel safe in their own communities without fear of ICE raids or government intimidation.

Republicans in Congress are enabling Donald Trump every step of the way, but Democrats are fighting every day to hold him and his administration accountable. And so are the American people, by standing up, pushing back, protecting our neighbors and making our voices heard.

I’m outraged, and I know you are too. But outrage isn’t enough. We need to organize, mobilize, and fight like hell to take back the House and put a stop to this madness.
