Put them on trial. Do it right, make it fair, but there is no way this should just be dropped like nothing happened. We get that law enforcement officers face particular challenges and dangers, and why that must be factored in when considering next steps. But this wasn’t an ordinary arrest, it was closer to an execution. Trump, Noem, and the others want desperately to avoid this, so they don’t have to face political (and possibly legal) repercussions themselves.
