John,

Joe Oltmann, a right wing podcaster with a history of extremist views, officially entered the race for the Republican nomination for Governor in Colorado.

Oltmann is an election denier who was sued for defamation by a former Dominion Voting employee.

Oltmann has repeatedly fantasized about executing Democrats and political opponents he deems a “traitor.” On his podcast, Oltmann said “I want people to go out there and get some wood. The gallows are getting wider and longer.”

In another rant, Oltmann said “I went and bought a bunch of rope. That way I can pull people behind my car when their body parts fall off, so it’s far enough behind, doesn’t get any blood on it.”

He then suggested that Gov. Jared Polis was a traitor who deserved “Gallows.”

Oltmann can’t be written off as fringe. Views like his are now mainstream and accepted political opinions in Trump’s Republican Party.

In 2022, the GOP nominee for Governor repeatedly claimed that public schools across Colorado and the country were letting children act like “Furries” and allowing kids to use kitty litter boxes instead of bathrooms because they “identified as animals.”

Such nonsense is ridiculous, but many people on the right truly believe it. The lies play into a broader narrative that “the left” and Democrats will corrupt and groom children — and if they aren’t stopped one way or the other, they will come for your kids next.

Delusional right wing conspiracy theorists who frequently call for political violence have to be taken seriously.

We need to show voters what they are saying, push back and expose the lies, and pressure GOP elected officials to either denounce or embrace them.

We can’t let extremists spread their lies and push for political violence unchecked. We’re fighting back in Colorado, but we need your help to do it. Can you chip in $25 or anything you can spare right now to fuel our rapid response against MAGA extremism?
