Dear John,
The Trump administration is shamefully targeting veterans and their loved ones’ rights and freedoms nationwide. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) approved a new policy that bans abortion care unless the pregnant person is on the brink of death, and bans abortion counseling in all circumstances.
In response to this dangerous rule, federal lawmakers introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution to overturn the Trump administration’s ban and reinstate abortion access for veterans. We need Congress to protect veterans by passing the CRA resolution.
The Trump administration is confirming what we’ve always known—that it never intended to leave abortion to the states. Leaders in the Trump administration will use everything in their power to ban abortion access whenever and wherever possible, even at the cost of our veterans’ physical and mental health. And their actions will cause chaos and confusion among providers who must decide whether a veteran is “sick enough” to obtain life-saving abortion care.
Take action today to help protect the rights of veterans and their loved ones to access essential health care.
Like all of us, veterans and their families deserve the freedom to control their bodies, lives, and futures without political interference. Congress must pass legislation to reverse this new rule and reinstate abortion access for all veterans who depend on VA for care. Join our fight against these attacks and ensure that every veteran can access abortion care without barriers.
In solidarity,
Jackii Wang
