As people who pay attention to the news, it should be immediately obvious why it is so important for Minnesota to elect a Democratic governor in the next election.
Donald Trump and Stephen Miller are not people with some deep conviction about law and order. This is a President who failed to call up the National Guard when it was actually needed -- on January 6th -- and then pardoned the participants as one of his first acts as president.
They want spectacle. They want violence. They think -- or at least thought -- it was good for them politically. That's why White House aides posed pictures of Trump getting popcorn when he deployed the National Guard in California.
And in Minnesota, they got violence. Now two American citizens are dead. But even if ICE were to leave tomorrow, Minnesota has a lot of work to do to recover. And no one believes that is possible with a Republican governor -- a Trump lackey -- in charge.
Thankfully, Amy Klobuchar announced she is running to replace Tim Walz. She is a friend, she came to California during the Election Rigging Response Act, and it'd mean a lot to me if you could help her on day one.
Aaron Ford's race in Nevada obviously isn't getting the headlines, but it is no less important. This is a state with a Republican Governor who stands lock-step with President Trump at every turn.
And again, if there's anything Trump's law enforcement "surges" have taught us, it's how important it is states have Democratic governors to stand in the breach.
This is going to be one of the most competitive gubernatorial elections in the country -- a literal toss-up. It's also a place that is often overlooked when it comes to grassroots fundraising, so it's a chance to make a politically strategic donation that will go a long way.
I try not to send a billion emails ... but this one is important. Especially today.
