Donate today to help support families during this hunger crisis and beyond ▸ |
I’m reaching out to you today because another global crisis looms during this pandemic, and I know that a better world is possible when we join together. Your gift today — combined with grants from other sources — can help us go up to five times as far. As COVID‑19 continues to grip the health and wellbeing of people everywhere, a hunger crisis is intensifying in fragile communities. In Niger, the number of people suffering food shortages is projected to increase to 2.7 million over the coming weeks. You can help with the immediate resources and long-term solutions people need. Last year, we reached millions of people with essential food assistance, agricultural training and more. Together, we can help ensure this critical work continues. Our goal is to raise $85,000 for our COVID‑19 Resilience Fund by Friday, July 31. Your generosity can help make that happen. Right now, our teams in Niger and around the world are examining the economic effect of COVID‑19 to help us understand how we can best support communities in need as they work to sustain markets and put food on their tables. We’re helping lessen the effect of a slowing economy on small scale farmers, strengthening the livelihoods of mothers through income-generating activities, introducing improved nutrition techniques and building long-term food security.
Bagne, 46, in his millet field in rural Niger, where families rely heavily on the food they grow.
It is up to all of us to help people like Bagne, a farmer in rural Niger. He and his family live in an agricultural community, where food shortages are chronic. With help from people like you, our team in Niger was able provide Bagne with millet seeds, goats, and training on agriculture, nutrition and hygiene. When you give, your donation can help us have up to 5 times the impact. Here’s how. Since 2015, Mercy Corps has been able to raise an average of $4 in government and foundation grants compared to every $1 in individual gifts. Your gift today will be combined with grants from other sources, enabling us to rush up to 5 times more lifesaving assistance to help children and families around the world.
