Folks,
When I worked in the woods, we all knew if you didn’t show up, if you couldn’t find a site to work, if the weather turned, or if you got hurt… you either figured it out, or you went without. I know what it’s like to go without.
That’s what running a campaign against a bunch of political insiders feels like sometimes. I might not have to wear my yellow safety glasses in this job, but in its own way, it’s just as tough.
I respect my opponents. They’re not bad people — but they’re beholden to special interests, corporations, and wealthy individuals who don’t have Mainers best interests at heart. They were born with every advantage — the son of a senator, the daughter of a congresswoman, the cousin of a president.
They’ve got the big donors, the party insiders, the corporations, the D.C. connections. I’ve got you, and I’m damn proud of that.
If I could fund this thing on my own, I wouldn’t send a single fundraising email this entire race. But I can’t write a personal check to cover an entire campaign’s worth of expenses — I’m counting on your help.
Right now, we’ve got about $4,000 left to raise online before the end of the month on Saturday night. If I don’t close that gap, next month’s goal gets even harder to reach, and our voter outreach plans take a hit. We need the money to get our message out early (and win).
I’ve never had anyone hand me anything — not a job, not an election, not a single fight. I’m not asking for that now. But if you believe in what we’re building together, I’m asking you to invest in our movement.
Our average donation size to emails in January is $25. If you can afford it, will you chip in that average amount before we close the books on this month’s fundraising?
