Dear Friends,
I recently joined Governor Wes Moore here in Frederick as he announced a groundbreaking $10.2 billion investment in Maryland's K-12 education system for the Fiscal Year 2027.
As one of the fastest growing counties in the state, Frederick County is slated to receive $28 million in State School construction funding to address our school overcrowding challenges and update aging facilities.
When I took office, I made a commitment to make education a top priority of my administration. We’re delivering on that promise by building the new Linganore Creek Elementary School, funding the first phases of a new Brunswick High School, and passing a budget last year that included over $508 million for our public schools, a $118 million increase - or 30% - over the past three years.
Now by working with our partners at the state level, this new funding will help us to ensure our kids and teachers have the best learning environment possible.
Sincerely,
Jessica Fitzwater
