Dear
John,
On August 17, 2019, a Michigan Historic Marker honoring Dr. Russell Kirk as Michigan's "greatest man of letters" was unveiled and dedicated outside his home in Mecosta, Michigan.

Wilbur Fellows alumni were among those gathered on a beautiful August day to hear from Kirk Center President Annette Kirk, Michigan Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman, State Senator Rick Outman, Kirk Center Chairman Joanne Emmons, and Director of the Michigan History Center Sandra Clark.

In addition to participating in the placement of the Marker, former Wilbur Fellows celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Wilbur Fellowship ([link removed]) . Many of the Fellows told stories of studying, working, and canoeing with Russell Kirk.

Fellows were interviewed about their experiences at the Center, and we look forward to sharing their stories and insights about this unique residential study program in a new video with you soon. In the meantime, you can see photos from the Wilbur Fellows celebration and Historic Marker dedication on our highlights and news page ([link removed]) .
The dedication of the Historic Marker was a fitting capstone to a summer full of programs at the Center. As we gathered for seminars, we encountered many public officials, scholars, professionals, and students who have been influenced by Russell's writings and thought.

Speaking on the floor of the U. S. House of Representatives recently, Rep. John Moolenaar delivered a tribute to Dr. Kirk ([link removed]) , noting that those ideas had personally helped him in forming his beliefs, and concluding with the hope that the “historic Marker in front of his cherished home in Mecosta will help ensure his ideas live on for future generations.”

With the placement of this Historic Marker, the Kirk Center looks forward to welcoming more young people seeking to learn about conservative principles.

Yours,

Annette Kirk, President
The Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal

P.S. Your generous support ([link removed]) at the beginning of this academic year will make it possible for us to host college student groups at the Center and promote reading groups on campuses this fall. Thank you for your partnership in our work.
