Dear Supporter,
The Trump Administration has admitted in court that “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) employees secretly and improperly accessed and shared sensitive personal data on millions of Americans without agency approval, raising major privacy and legal concerns.
The latest evidence that DOGE abused Americans’ private Social Security data, for what appears to be political reasons, should come as no surprise to senior Americans like you. That’s because the National Committee has warned from the beginning that DOGE had no business accessing this data and that no good could come of it.
Last June, the Supreme Court overturned a lower court order that barred DOGE from accessing Americans’ Social Security data. This gave DOGE carte blanche to misuse Americans’ personal information that it never should have had in the first place. Then in August, DOGE staffers were found to have uploaded the personal information of hundreds of millions of Americans to a ‘vulnerable cloud server’ without any credible explanation.
The truth about DOGE’s supposed mission at SSA is still being uncovered — but the damage is ongoing …
That’s why I urge you to sign our PETITION TO CONGRESS ( [link removed] ) today, telling your member of Congress to cosponsor the “Hands Off Our Social Security Act” (H.R. 4734), which would help undo the harm that has been caused by the Trump Administration’s reckless activities at the agency!
DOGE’s efforts to uncover massive “waste, fraud and abuse” at SSA ended in a bust. However, DOGE has succeeded in hobbling SSA’s ability to serve the 70 million people who rely on Social Security — by slashing the workforce and erecting new hurdles for beneficiaries simply trying to access their earned benefits.
That’s why in addition to supporting the immediate passage of the “Hands Off Our Social Security Act,” the National Committee also backs the call by U.S. Representatives John Larson (CT-01) and Richard Neil (MA-01) for a full criminal investigation into DOGE leaks of private Social Security data to billionaire Elon Musk’s associates and immediate congressional action to safeguard Americans’ privacy.
With so much at stake, please sign our urgent petition to Congress today! ( [link removed] )
Sincerely,
Max Richtman
President & CEO
