Dear John, January marks one year since this administration took office, and there is no way to reconcile this chaotic moment in time. This month has shaken me to my core. I'm from North Dakota, and have dear friends and grantee partners in Minnesota. Everything that is happening there is so close. I am disgusted and heartbroken, but in spite of it all, I am also deeply inspired. Now more than ever, we are seeing the importance of acting locally and supporting grassroots action. I'm inspired by the people showing up day after day for their neighbors. Inspired by the protests in cities and towns across the nation. Inspired by our partners, who are finding new, creative ways to care for their communities in the face of relentless pushback. Right now it is critical that we all continue this fight. We need to find inspiration in one another and ourselves to take any and every action we can, because sitting on the sidelines is not an option. As we look towards a year that is already fraught with uncertainty and fear, we are ready to face it head on, together. We’re proud to be by your side at this moment. In solidarity, |
