The current youth vaping epidemic is the most serious adolescent public-health crisis our country has faced in decades and continues to unfold in real time. The CDC recently announced an investigation into almost two hundred cases of teen lung illness, including one fatality, possibly linked to vaping. (A handful were caused by the use of THC).

This further underscores the urgency of the problem: The FDA still has not regulated flavored e-cigarettes including JUUL that almost 4 million young people are using, many of them already addicted to nicotine. We know that nicotine harms developing brains, and scientific evidence continues to emerge about how the toxic chemicals in these tobacco products can cause cardiovascular damage.

That’s why we parents must get involved before it’s too late.

We hope our basic PAVe Parent Toolkit will both educate and empower you to get involved. Every action that you take—no matter how small—is amplified by our growing chorus of parents sending a collective powerful message to JUUL and its copycats, Big Tobacco 2.0: We will not allow you to turn our kids into an entire generation of nicotine addicts!
