Israel's Northern Border Heats Up
On Monday morning, a cell of the Iranian proxy Hezbollah, crossed the border into Israel proper, and exchanged gunfire with the IDF. Some media outlets have also reported that they fired an anti-tank missile at an Israeli tank.
Thankfully, the IDF was successfully able to ambush Hezbollah. This has all come about because last week, Israel eliminated a high ranking Hezbollah operative near Damascus, and Hezbollah has vowed revenge.
Because the IDF was successful, Hezbollah has stated that this event had been “staged” by Israel. Sheik Nasrallah has still vowed “revenge” for the elimination of their fighter in Syria.
The IDF remains “in a high state of alert”, and tensions remain high along Israel’s northern borders with Lebanon and Syria. Do these tensions run the risk of escalation into a full scale war? How is the IDF prepared to confront Hezbollah? Here to answer these questions and more are Brigadier General Michael Herzog (ret.) of the IDF and Seth Frantzman, Head Middle East Affairs Correspondent and Analyst of the Jerusalem Post.
