The Trump administration’s killers have claimed another life. Earlier this month, ICE agents shot and killed Renee Good — a poet, a wife, and a mother of three. On Saturday, they killed Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse at the VA and a protester demanding accountability.

Two lives, two families shattered. And a rogue gang of masked killers that believe they can murder American citizens with impunity.

After Alex Pretti was killed, Trump promised a “very honorable and honest investigation.” But here’s the reality: the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the FBI have been locked out. ICE is investigating itself. Evidence has not been properly preserved. And we still don’t even know the name of the agent who pulled the trigger.

Trump is covering up the murder of Americans by his personal Gestapo. The blood is on his hands.

Despite what J.D. Vance and others are claiming, there is no such thing as “absolute immunity” for ICE agents. 

We cannot allow ICE to get away with murders of American citizens in broad daylight. If ICE agents aren’t brought to justice, they will kill again.

That’s why Defend Our Courts’ mission has never been more urgent.

Justice for Renee and Alex is not coming from Washington. It will come from strong, independent state Supreme Courts.

DHS and the Trump admin are doing everything they can to protect the murders at a federal level. But ICE agents can be prosecuted in state courts for violating state law. And critically, any consequences imposed at the state level are beyond the reach of a presidential pardon.
