Leading the Fight Against Cancer

I’m proud to announce, alongside my friend Rep. Terri Sewell, that the House passed our bill - the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act - which is one of the most consequential and widely supported accomplishments in the fight against cancer in decades. 

This critical legislation will give seniors access to groundbreaking innovation, which will transform how we detect, diagnose, and treat cancer, saving lives and improving outcomes through the power of early detection. 

This monumental achievement was made possible by a broad, bipartisan coalition committed to putting patients first. 

I’m grateful to Rep. Terri Sewell for her partnership as we built a team of 338 House cosponsors, 67 Senate supporters, more than 500 advocacy organizations, and voices outside Washington, like Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who helped drive this effort forward. 

Together, we are delivering real, life-saving services to thousands of Americans while saving taxpayer dollars by catching cancer before it spreads.

Making the American Dream Affordable Again

The American people elected a new CEO in President Trump and unified Republican leadership to usher in a new era of affordability. And that’s exactly what we kick-started in the One Big Beautiful Bill, which is delivering stronger growth, more take-home pay for families, and the lowest core inflation in nearly five years.

But, there’s still more work to do. I recently spoke at a press conference to outline how to truly usher in the Golden Age of America - by Republicans rising to meet this moment, building on our historic momentum, and unlocking Reconciliation 2.0.

America First, Pro-Growth Policies Are Working

Recent promising economic reports are more proof President Trump’s and Republicans’ America First, pro-growth policies are working. GDP growing at its fastest pace in two years confirms the historic, pro-growth policies enacted in the One Big Beautiful Bill—permanent tax relief, energy deregulation, and reduced federal spending—are spurring private investment and putting more money back into the pockets of hardworking families. While Americans are still recovering from Biden’s self-inflicted affordability crisis, under President Trump, wages are up and outpacing inflation and Americans’ purchasing power has been supercharged. 

But we’re not done yet. The One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) was the first step in reversing Democrats’ fiscal failures and Making America Affordable Again. Now we must finish the job. Reconciliation 2.0 is the most consequential legislative tool available for us to finish what we started in OBBB, make health care affordable again, double down on eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, and lock-in Trump’s trade wins.

We must not shrink back in this historic moment. We must honor our commitment to the American people—who gave us unified Republican leadership—and do everything in our power to Make America Safer, Stronger, and More Prosperous.

Delivering a Historic Rural Health Investment for Texas 

You won't have the next generation of ag and energy producers providing America with food security and energy independence without access to basic health care in rural communities. Yet for years, Rural America has faced a growing health care crisis marked by fewer providers, reduced services, and declining access to quality care.

To combat this crisis, the One Big Beautiful Bill established the ‘Rural Health Transformation Program,’ the largest and most comprehensive investment in rural health care in modern history - delivering a historic $50 billion commitment to strengthen rural hospitals and expand access to care.

I am proud to announce the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded Texas the highest allocation of any state under this program, directing landmark investments to strengthen rural hospitals, expand access to care for our cowboys and plowboys, and secure a healthier future for the next generation of Texans. This is a major win for our region, our great state, and the heartland of America - ensuring our rural communities remain healthy, strong, and thriving for years to come.

House Continues Support for B-21 Raiders

The first and most important job of the federal government is to provide for the common defense. That’s why House Republicans are prioritizing investments in America’s military superiority and our service members.

I’m proud the House passed legislation securing $1.9 billion for procurement of the B-21 Raider, a critical investment in America’s nuclear deterrence that will help solidify Dyess Air Force Base’s mission for generations to come.

With the B-21’s arrival in the Big Country just over the horizon, I will never stop fighting to ensure our airmen at Dyess have the tools, resources, and support they need to continue being the tip of the spear of our nation’s air arsenal.

Working with Trump Administration to Lower Input Costs for Farmers

I led 21 Members of Congress representing Rural America in sending a letter to U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Attorney General Pam Bondi encouraging continued collaboration to strengthen competition in agricultural input markets and help lower costs for America’s farmers and ranchers.

The letter commends the Trump administration for its initiative to strongly enforce existing antitrust laws in their joint USDA-DOJ Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting competition for agricultural inputs. Importantly, the letter urges a review of federal policies that impede competition and requests that these agencies provide a list of regulations that can be addressed to lower prices for agricultural inputs.

Protecting Retirement Savings from Woke Mandates

The House passed H.R. 2988, the Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act, which restores fiduciary responsibility by requiring retirement plan managers to prioritize maximizing returns for beneficiaries rather than advancing climate or social agendas.

Under the extreme climate and social policy agenda of the Biden administration, financial advisors were encouraged to steer Americans’ hard-earned retirement savings into climate and social justice related endeavors instead of maximizing financial returns. 

By law, fiduciaries are required to act in the best financial interests of their clients - which is exactly the opposite of putting someone’s retirement savings at risk just to appease activists. 

I am proud to support the Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act to safeguard retirement savings and ensure hardworking Americans can retire with peace and prosperity, not woke and broke.

Fighting Back Against Far-Left Officials Targeting Immigration Enforcement

I introduced H.R. 6608, the Safeguarding Homeland Immigration Enforcement from Local Detention (SHIELD) Act — new legislation responding to escalating rhetoric from far-Left state and local officials who have threatened to arrest or prosecute federal immigration agents for doing their jobs.

Any state or local leader who arrests federal agents for enforcing immigration law are abandoning the heart of constitutional order, aiding and abetting criminal illegal aliens, and fueling the perverse incentives that drive illegal immigration.

My SHIELD Act stands up for the rule of law and pushes back on far-Left radicals by cutting off every federal dollar to any jurisdiction that obstructs or prosecutes our officers — even once — carrying out their critical security responsibilities.

I am proud to lead the fight to support our federal officers and hold lawless politicians who undermine the safety and security of the United States fully accountable.
