Colorado is a prime target. In 2024 when most of the nation took a hard right turn to Trump and the Republican Party, Colorado held the line—CO shifted 4 points more to the left of the nation.
Colorado bucked the trend then and has been staunchly anti-Trump since 2016. And now we need it to fight back against MAGA once more.
But here’s the problem: long ago, CO voters approved an independent redistricting commission never anticipating that a cheater like Donald Trump would gerrymander districts in the middle of the decade to keep his party in power.
We need to respond aggressively to MAGA’s all-out assault on democracy and free and fair elections, and that means approving emergency redistricting in Colorado to counter Trump’s gerrymandering in red states.
To do that, we will need to pass a ballot initiative that would let voters approve a plan to flip three or even four GOP-held seats in Colorado from red to blue.
Colorado Draws the Line is leading this effort, but without an influx of financial support from people across the country who recognize how dire the situation is right now for Democrats’ midterm prospects, we may never even make it to the ballot in the first place.
