In recent days, I have heard from so many people distraught at what is happening in our country, worried for our future, and wondering what can be done.
If you live in Texas’ 18th Congressional District, there is one thing you can do right now: Vote. Today. (And if you don’t live there, call someone who does and help get out the vote.)
For nearly a year, Governor Abbott has denied the people who live in the 18th District in Houston their voice in Washington after the tragic death of my friend and colleague Congressman Sylvester Turner.
The people of the 18th Congressional District deserve better. And that is why I endorsed Christian Menefee in this race last March .
Christian is an original member of #TeamLizzie, going all the way back to the primary election in 2018. But that’s not why I endorsed him. I endorsed him because he is smart, thoughtful, and hardworking. And because he leads with integrity. As Harris County Attorney, Christian took on President Trump, Governor Abbott, and other Republican state officials to protect voting rights, defend health care, and fight for our civil rights. Time and again, he won many of those battles.
The people of the 18th Congressional District deserve a fighter who can get things done. And we need him in our Texas Delegation in Congress.

I cannot overstate how important it is for us to show up in every way we can at this moment. And showing up to vote is showing up for our community and our country at a time we need it the most.
