With just three days left in January, COURIER is about $20,000 short of our fundraising goal for the month.
We don’t set these goals lightly. The support we raise from grassroots donors like you directly determines how much courageous reporting our national and state teams can deliver — work they’ve been doing nonstop since this chaotic year began.
Right now, our goal is to close half of that gap — $10,000 in the next 72 hours — to stay on pace heading into the final days of the month.
Here’s why this matters.
Every day this year, COURIER’s reporting has reached millions — often in moments when legacy outlets hesitate, sanitize the truth, or quietly change their coverage out of fear of retaliation from Trump and MAGA.
So far this month, we’ve:
- Used our massive online reach to push back against MAGA disinformation after federal agents killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, when right-wing media rushed to rewrite the story and erase what people could plainly see.
- Exposed ICE abuses across our battleground-state newsrooms, delivering vital reporting in news deserts and communities with little or no access to local journalism.
- Called out Trump’s escalating attacks on the press, including lawsuits and legal threats designed to intimidate journalists into silence.
This isn’t a future problem. It’s happening now — at the very start of a consequential election year, when access to real journalism matters most.
So here’s our ask:
If we hit this 72-hour goal, we can keep rapid-response reporting fully funded, continue covering stories other outlets are pulling away from, and expand our reach in communities losing access to real journalism.
If we don’t, we may be forced to slow down at exactly the wrong moment.
