John,

They say hope for the best and plan for the worst. And our team here at the NDRC does just that.

Shortly after the 2020 redistricting process concluded, we began preparing for a worst-case, far-fetched scenario: That Republicans might not wait until after the next census to start redrawing their maps in order to pick up congressional seats.

Last summer, that worst-case scenario started coming true. And thanks to people like you, we were ready to respond with the full force of the fair maps movement.

Your support has enabled us to push back against every Republican gerrymander and expose the craven politicians who’ve kowtowed to Trump’s demands. Supporters like you have helped us counteract these power grabs by giving voters in states like California a chance to pass temporary, responsive measures to prevent Republicans from rigging the outcome of the midterm elections.

The next few months will be the toughest test we’ve faced yet — and we’re prepared to respond with the urgency this moment demands. That’s why I’m calling on you, if you can, to step up with a grassroots donation.

Donate to power the NDRC’s democracy-defending work in the critical months ahead, and ensure we’re ready no matter what attacks lie before us: [[link removed]]

When Donald Trump got elected a second time, we knew that this redistricting crisis could be imminent — so we wasted no time. We knew that we couldn’t sit on the sidelines while Trump and his allies tried to rig voting maps and disenfranchise voters. We knew we couldn’t simply respond with strongly worded press statements.

We knew we had to respond with a massive organizing effort and make clear that the American people strongly rejected this power grab. And time and again, we’ve proven that organizing and fighting back works — from the citizen-led effort in Missouri to give voters a chance to veto their gerrymandered map to the bipartisan coalition of Indiana lawmakers who resisted Trump’s pressure and voted down the attempted gerrymander there.

We don’t know what the future holds, but you can feel confident that your donation helps the NDRC prepare — even for a worst-case scenario. If you can, give today to power our movement and let’s fight for a truly fair, truly representative democracy: [[link removed]]

These are serious, consequential times. It is not hyperbolic to say that our democracy is at risk, that the American Experiment is in danger of destruction by zealots and authoritarians. We need your help. Together, we will prevail.

Thank you,
