In Minnesota, we are seeing a heartbreaking assault on the rights and liberties that so many have fought to secure.

The fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by ICE is only the latest incident that highlights the dangers that arise when masked federal forces operate unchecked in our communities, acting without accountability and hindering local authorities from fulfilling their duties. That’s why I voted against funding ICE last week.

No one should live in fear of federal agents, and the current administration must immediately withdraw ICE from Minnesota and end this campaign of brutality.

My heart goes out to Alex’s family and to all those in Minneapolis who are grieving this senseless loss. Alex was a 37-year-old intensive care nurse and a dedicated caregiver whose life was cut tragically short. This needless tragedy should unite every American who cherishes freedom and justice in condemning such actions and demanding real accountability.
