Republicans are starting to buckle under the pressure. Multiple Republicans in the House and Senate are now calling for independent investigations into ICE and DHS following the murder of Alex Pettri in Minnesota by Border Patrol agents.

While these are encouraging first steps, the fight for full accountability for the deaths caused by ICE and the DHS is just the beginning. We’ve seen time and time again how Republicans and the Trump administration will do everything in their power to cover up and lie to the American people.

Country First’s army of volunteers targeted Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski and Thom Tillis, flooding their offices with thousands of calls demanding accountability. Following the pressure from our volunteers and countless other pro-democracy advocates, Tillis and Murkowski were the first two Republicans senators to demand Secretary Kristi Noem’s resignation. 

On top of that, Country First has also collected over 25,000 signatures demanding leadership and agents inside the DHS and ICE answer for the crimes being committed in Minnesota, and we won’t let up until that happens.

Our democracy will not survive if a poorly trained, masked secret police force is allowed to roam free in our streets with zero accountability to the people. Your continuing financial support will ensure Country First has the resources we need for the long fight ahead.

The brave people of Minnesota are showing all of us how to fight back and win. It will take everyone of us doing our part, however small or insignificant it may seem, to roll back the tide of authoritarianism.
