News from Congressman Bill Foster

Dear Friend,

The recent news out of Minneapolis is beyond disturbing. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, killed two U.S. citizens. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem then proceeded to lie to the American public about how these events transpired, despite video evidence that contradicted her claims.

Illinois communities have seen similar aggressive ICE operations during Operation Midway Blitz, as raids continue to terrorize U.S. citizens and immigrants in Chicago and the suburbs.

Enough is enough. If Trump won’t hold Sec. Noem accountable, Congress must impeach her.

We cannot stand by while DHS and ICE go unchecked. Here’s what I am doing in response:

  • I voted NO on the Homeland Security funding bill. ICE must be held accountable for its rampant abuses of power, not rewarded with more funding. Read my statement on that vote here.
  • I joined over 150 of my colleagues in supporting articles of impeachment against Sec. Kristi Noem.
  • I joined 2,000 people in South Elgin this past weekend in a peaceful protest to demand justice for the victims of ICE’s unchecked violence.
  • I am calling for independent, transparent investigations into the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. This administration has proven they are willing to lie and distort the truth to cover up their failures in immigration enforcement.
  • I am calling on the Senate to vote against additional ICE and DHS funding until meaningful reforms and oversight are enacted.

This is not the America our forefathers fought to protect, and this is not the America future generations deserve. I will continue working with my colleagues in Congress to demand accountability, pursue comprehensive immigration reform, and bring morality and decency back to our immigration system.

Sincerely,
