Dear John,
When we talk about US$125 million stripped from the global LGBTIQ movement, it can feel abstract. Numbers on a page.
But behind those numbers are people. Organizations. Communities fighting for survival.
Today, I want to share three stories from partners whose work is at risk and whom your engagement with Funding Our Freedom can help protect.
** AFRICA: Building power for intersex communities
------------------------------------------------------------

In Africa, one of the strongest national intersex advocacy organizations that Outright works with provides life-changing support, improving health care access, training medical professionals, leading public advocacy, and building safer communities through peer and family empowerment.
For years, they’ve built forward momentum for intersex people's rights in the region. A sudden reduction in resources could jeopardize everything they’ve fought for and set back opportunities for advancement across the continent. Funding Our Freedom is a part of Outright’s commitment to work to help organizations like these continue to make an impact and serve their communities.
** ASIA: Documenting the truth, no matter the risk
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
In one of the most challenging environments in the region, a partner organization documents human rights abuses, shares survivor stories through films and interviews, and advocates for justice both locally and internationally.
Their work is high-risk and deeply personal. They reach even the most remote communities, building trust with LGBTIQ people and local networks over years. When a crisis hits, they’re the ones providing community-based relief and protection. Work like this requires community-led infrastructure, continued investment in security, and ongoing support from partners and friends.
** LATIN AMERICA: Protecting trans lives, shaping policy
------------------------------------------------------------
[link removed]
A partner in Latin America turns community needs into strong advocacy, challenging harmful narratives, supporting informed public debate, and providing psychological care, legal support, and safe spaces for trans people and their families.
They ensure that lived experiences shape policy and public conversations. But this vital work is increasingly under threat from far-right political attacks and funding cuts that risk undoing hard-won progress.
These are just three of the more than 130 organizations in our network whose vital work is at risk — but their mission is far from over. Funding Our Freedom exists to protect the power of organizations like these by sustaining their impact and empowering Outright to help ensure our partners can keep building the future our communities deserve.

P.S. We’ve learned the hard way that frontline support without cover is fragile, and global advocacy without frontline truth is hollow. This campaign keeps both sides strong. Will you help? ([link removed])
