Everywhere I go in Southwest Washington, I hear from folks concerned about the rising cost of healthcare.

Nearly 25,000 people in our district have seen their premiums jump since the enhanced ACA subsidies expired at the end of last year. I voted to extend those subsidies for three more years to give families some relief – but I also know temporary fixes aren’t enough.

Before I ever ran for Congress, my husband and I faced these same tradeoffs. We could only afford health insurance for our son. We went without coverage ourselves and hoped nothing would go wrong. No family should have to make that kind of choice.

Healthcare costs are squeezing people from every direction – premiums, deductibles, prescriptions – and it’s forcing real sacrifices. We need real reforms, not short-term patches, that lower costs, increase competition, and bring transparency to the system.
