** Parents Deserve Access to Data. State and District Leaders Can Help Right Now
------------------------------------------------------------
As students receive instruction from their homes during the COVID-19 pandemic, parents have been largely flying blind in their role as de facto educators. Parents must have information to help their children succeed – especially as they continue to navigate the uncharted territory of school closures and remote learning. Parent portals are an essential tool for providing parents with this information.
DQC's newest resource ([link removed]) details steps that state and district leaders can take to turn parent portals on and shares examples of leaders that are at different stages of successfully implementing strategies to get data into the hands of parents.
Education leaders must not be data gatekeepers. Parents have always needed to be informed partners in their children’s education, and every district is capable of providing parent access through its student information system. Recovery depends on providing parents with the information they need to support their students.
