Friend — I’m sure you’ve seen the news by now. Last night, an attacker rushed me at a town hall and sprayed me with an unknown substance.
Thankfully, my security team acted quickly and protected me and everyone else from harm.
We continued our town hall, because I don’t believe in letting bullies win. I’m a survivor. But I have been warning for a long time that Trump’s racist, vitriolic attacks would eventually lead to something like this. I was right.
All of MAGA — Trump, JD Vance, Nancy Mace, Randy Fine, Tommy Tuberville, and more — have spent months spreading conspiracy theories about me and my family. Defaming me with false accusations of fraud, calling me and Somali-Americans “garbage”, threatening to denaturalize me, saying I should be deported or even killed.
It inspires crazy people to do crazy things. Every day I receive racist tirades and death threats, and that’s a direct result of MAGA leadership’s constant attacks.
But if you think Trump is going to scale back the rhetoric after last night, think again:
Trump and MAGA’s obsession with me is simple: I’m an immigrant, Muslim, woman of color who is speaking out against their failed agenda and fighting back against ICE’s violent occupation of my state. Their attacks will not stop me from fighting for my neighbors in the face of fascism.
Friend, the truth is, last night could have been so much worse if my security team wasn’t there to help.
And believe it or not, Congress does not provide members like me with our own security. That’s why I reach out to you from time to time, asking you to chip in to help me afford private security. The donations from this team are a big part of why disaster was avoided last night.

Minnesota is currently engaged in the defining civil rights struggle of our time. ICE is terrorizing my neighbors, brutalizing protesters, ripping people from their homes and families, and killing people in the streets.
