If the proposal is approved, it would severely understate the dangers formaldehyde poses for industrial workers and families — and pave the way for weaker protections against this highly toxic chemical.

Years of science have made one fact clear: formaldehyde is incredibly dangerous and even very small amounts could put us at risk.

Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, linked to nasal cancers, leukemia, asthma and lung damage. Despite knowing the risks, the chemical industry is pressuring the EPA to double the amount of formaldehyde considered “safe” to breathe.  

This reverses decades of rock-solid, internationally recognized, peer-reviewed science that has withstood the last four presidential administrations — all to put corporate profits over our health.
